Between Google Video and Google’s hold in YouTube there are many small video streaming sites holding minuscule portions of the market. Yahoo, the content and services behemoth, doesn’t offer any worthy alternative to Google’s video services, and that’s exactly where the Flickr brand comes into the picture.
The word is that Flickr Video is coming soon. Looking back to last summer, Yahoo execs stated their intentions to build a video element on the success of the Flickr photo service to compete with YouTube and Google Video. How soon until it will be open to the public is still unknown. With the amount of noise surrounding a possible Yahoo buyout, this Flickr upgrade is kept under the radar.
It’s pretty safe to say that the Yahoo Video service will be rolled into the new Flickr service once it’s public, in accordance with Yahoo tradition.
