Google Notebook and the productive environment

E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E is writing about the new Google Notebook. I will not add to the clutter. Now with Google mail, calendar, Contacts ((sort of) part of gmail) and Notepad, the only element Google have to add is Google Tasks and the ability to synchronize all these services with PDAs, cellphones and other mobile devices. With that (and their other services), Google will take over my productive environment.

As for Google Tasks, or whatever name they choose. It seems like the base structure was already built into Google Calendar as Garett Rogers found out a few weeks ago. So, there may not be “Google Tasks” but a feature within Google Calendar the way Contacts is part of Gmail.

I’m tempted to write about my experiment with Google Base in attempts to bend it toward creating a task management mechanism. The final result was very disappointing for three main reasons:
1) The inability of creating self-defined arrays for details (item attributes) and only use pre-set types (text, number, date range, etc.).
2) The inability of grouping items by type or manually. Which will create separate lists of different items and not have all items of all types in one big list.
3) The inability to determine which item attributes will be part of the main list table. Basically, a custom attribute can’t be viewed in the list, only in an individual item view.

ANYWAY, when I’ll be able to set a meeting using Google Calendar with several people in my Gmail contacts and synchronize it to my PDA, I’ll rid myself of Outlook.
