O-Yes
Today I came across an Operating System named O-Yes. According to the OS’s site it’s “the most efficient OS known to mankind. And it has been developed by a kid in India!! For many years it has been a closely guarded secret to protect our national interests.“. hmmm…. strange but might be interesting.
It continues to tell us about the developer of this secret and most efficient OS known to mankind: “Ramlal Bhagat, a Class XII. student from Haryana,India has developed a 32-bit operating system demonstrated to be far Superior to any of the desktop operating systems in the market today. The program has been named O-Yes. O-Yes provides operating system services on any Pentium-based personal computer (PC) and does not require MS-DOS as a base operating system“.
The Operating System is compared only to Windows 95 and OS/2 and not to newer Operating System which means it probably wasn’t updated for a long time. More form the site “O-Yes is 34% faster than Microsoft’s Windows 95 on similar hardware. It is 29% faster than IBM’s OS/2. O-Yes loads 54% quicker than Windows 95 or OS/2. O-Yes has a customizable, user-friendly graphical User Interface (GUI), in which every program can be accessed with a maximum of two button clicks. The operating system provides plug n play capability with numerous hardware devices. It has a superior memory management function. The operating system is compatible with Windows 95 & WindowsNT 4.0”
The site also claims that HCL, Ltd. (a company in India) as offered an unknown amount to Ramlal Bhagat for purchasing the rights to the software. But there are no other reports on the outcome of this offer.
I did not try to run this OS. The lack of any technical and background details prevents me from thinking about it seriously.

There is absolutely no facts associated to this claim. We have not heard or seen any news related to O-Yes and Dear Mr. Ramlal.
From what i hear from my north indian friends are, the name Ramlal is USU given to guys who are dodos.
But simply because we have not seen or heard about it does not mean that it does not exist. For many americans, India does not exist. For many chinese, America does not exist.
Bottom line my friends, is Any thing that is not verifyable IS NOT TRUE.

1. MS-DOS was PURCHASED by William Gates from *a dude*. Google “QDOS” (expanded as “Quick and Dirty operating system”)
2. *Linux* was made by a d00d called “Linus Torvalds”. Google that t00, j00 1337 h4×0rs.

This will get rid of the misconceptions you are having about Linus being the father of Linux.
The point here is that this hoax about this Ramlal guy, designing a complete OS with the GUI when he is studying in XII std. is crap.
It will take atleast 10-15 years for designing an OS of such a volume for a single person.
If that’s true, then Ramlal must have started designing the OS at the age of 8. which means he must be computer literate when he was in his embryonic stage.

This news has been doing the rounds since 1999. Designing and developing the basic functionalities of an OS can be done by a single person, without efficiency considerations obviously. However, designing an OS with full graphical features and UI as Windows and more efficient that Win 95 and OS/2 by a single person, is not quite possible. That, too, by someone who was in std. 12 when he developed the OS.

dudes, this is definately a hoax. We would like to believe that somebody can make an OS like that.
It is not physically possible for one person to create a a OS with complete GUI sub system and whose Binary are compatible with Microsoft.
Linux which is acceredited to Linus Trovald was initially a kernel only. you can find a sample listing of simple multi-processing Operating system with BE computer science books, so not a big deal what Linux Trovald has done.
It was the GNU and opensource application development world that did all the dirty task of creating usable applications, shell utilities and x-system.
I think the claim is hoax. But may be 5 year down the line, we shall have computer geek in India that shall be able to crack some web servers at the age of 17.

An OS takes years to built and a single person can’t do that. Infact just from the name you can identify that the guy is a fake. No Indian guy can develop a an OS In a 3rd world country like India with not much support and Think of even competing with Bill gates. Microsoft OS’ may have bugs but for Decades no one has been able to make a user friendly OS like Windows. Bill Gates is not mad to add Bugs to his OS. Its just not possible to make a bug free OS. Infact no one has ever made one either. Unix flavours may be bug free but you may require some coaching and its not user friendly in any case So stop complaning because the whole world uses windows. I would not say that one man cannot create an OS independently.However for a 12th grader to do so sounds like a complete hoax .There are loads of concepts to be understood before a team begins to design an OS.And that comes through experience .

Ramlal is true, that OS was truly faster than any OS until 1998, all it lacked was multi-threading. This feature drastically decreases the functioning of the system and it can be used not more than a PC. Also Ramlal was born in 1963, and he made an OS in 1977. But he lacked atleast funds to present his OS.
Lastly, If you believe in Ramlal then you must believe what I said, If you dont then dont believe what I said.
What I said is as true as Ramlal’s story is.
Be proud that you are Indian and Microsoft is not monopoly, its a bull-shit company, there are many companies much better than that.

I too cannot believe the news that a 12th Std. kid developed an OS all by his own . But I don’t understand what’s the big deal about such a rumour. Its not just Indians but the whole world keep spreading rumours, some get lost unheard, some get famous. Also he said that he stop working on this project 6 years b4. To HCL ke offer ka kya hua??
Guys….who r in support of this guy: Come down to earth. Its true that we Indians are doing gr8 in IT. But still how can we belive that a single person can develop an OS?? Why we are making a joke of ourseleves..?

Well,
Dont misunderstand me. I’m not neither in support with this O-Yes nor in oppose….just trying to evaluate arguments from neutral point.
First:
-DOS was created almost single handedly..and Bill Gates was very young when he created it.
-Intellect of kids has grown very much in the field of IT since 1970s(when DOS was created)..Ankit Fadia for example
-It is not declared that it is complete OS ready to be used, it may be concepts to be used in OS which will make it better than any other OS.
Second:
-Concepts of OS are not kids’ playground and revolutionary concepts are out of bounds of kids of 12th standard.
-The details given by ramlal on the site are merely some small utilities which can be developed by anyone they r not some revolutionary concepts.
-The site itself does not look like something made by a genious.
We can know the truth only after complete ready to use OS gets out and we use it!

That site has got google ads, the more mails, the more search for him, the more search the more visitors queit a cool way to make 100$ ’s
the site is hosted with some stupid scripts and links which is easy enough to understrand all that the above message was fake

BUT this O-YES story,is a HOAX.Many people working in HCL said that its just a HOAX.
But there is nothing wrong in TRIAL.Even Iam trying to DEVELOP a kernel,but I feel its an extremely TOUGH TASK,and after a CERTAIN level,you should delegate the development.
First of all,YOU SHOULD have a BASE KERNEL to BUILD on TOP.Most developers prefer UNIX or its derivatives.Currently since BSD is the most stable OS KERNEL(also a UNIX Der.),many developers PREFER that.
The BSD License states that anyone can USE its codebase and INCORPORATE THEM into proreitary code and use them COMMERCIALLY without restrictions.
Even Apple’s MAC OSX is based on BSD.Sun Microsystem’s SOLARIS is another example of a famous UNIX derivative.
Even Microsoft has incorporated theBSD code in their WIndows XP,for NETWORKING NEEDS.
This Ramlal bhagat says,he has no base,and his 32-bit OS,is the most advanced OS in the PLANET.IMpossible.

Ya,we shall encourage him with PRIDE,but let us get the proof.Let us see the OS.
I have send him an email(TO THE ID I GOT FORM THE NET) asking the internals of his OS.That is the base kernel,the required configuration,the file system incorporated,the GUI environment,Drivers,…etc for which I got no reply..
IT IS A HOAX.
If it was true,I would have supported him with TRUE INDIAN SPIRIT.
But such a type of HOAX is a SHAME and DISGRACE to Indian IT.
So I encourage RAMLAL to develop an OS,and then start spreading the news…..

Hey… doesn’t this sound similar to the Hindi movie “Om Jai Jagdish” … lol… I remember watching this movie… and abhishek bachchan happenes to be this hacker.. who steals college exam paper….and then after being thrown out of the house… he works hard.. to make an OS greater than windows and an OS which is completely secured………… this sounds like the idea picked up from Anupam Kher’s super flop!!!!!!!! lol
