A recent survey, commissioned by Standard & Poor’s, showed 48% of Web search engine users preferred the new upcoming Google mail over its rivals, with 14% saying they preferred Microsoft’s MSN, compared with 20% for Yahoo.

Hotmail will become the latest Web-based e-mail service to increase the amount of storage space available for its free accounts, following similar moves by rivals.
